The OHR CHAYA LEARNING CENTER FOR WOMEN was founded in Jerusalem in 1989 with the blessing and approbation of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, and named in memory of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka O.B.M. During the 20 years since its inception, it has rapidly expanded and developed into Israel’s leading women’s center for Torah studies in the light of chassidut.

OHR CHAYA: What’s in a Name
As its name implies, OHR CHAYA infuses “light” and “vitality” into Torah learning. Students absorb and internalize this light and vitality, in turn going on to illuminate and re-vitalize their homes and environments.

OHR CHAYA: Location
Conveniently located in midtown Jerusalem, OHR CHAYA boasts easy access to all parts of the city, both by foot and by public transportation, and to Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station.

OHR CHAYA: Premises - A Home-Away-from-Home
Housed in a charmingly reconstructed and magnificently appointed landmark building in midtown Jerusalem, the OHR CHAYA CENTER offers an extensive and diverse array of classes, courses, and lectures on all facets of Judaism, with an emphasis on the inner dimension of Torah. The warm, cozy ambience, coupled with the personal attention and caring attitude of its staff, in tandem with the highest caliber of educators and course material, all mesh together to provide a unique and refreshing learning experience in a warm, welcoming, and vibrant setting.
Between classes, students enjoy a hot drink, chat with fellow students, or find a quiet spot in which to complete their morning prayers. The knowledge acquired is invaluable; relationships forged here are priceless; this is their home, and students are loathe to take their leave at day’s end.

OHR CHAYA: Student Body – A Utopia of Unity
The unique ambience of unity that characterizes OHR CHAYA is something that must be experienced first-hand to be fathomed. Housewives, teens, newly-weds, career women, golden-agers, college graduates, from the entire spectrum of religious observance—be it ultra-Orthodox, traditional, or newcomers to Torah study and observance, hailing from literally all parts of the globe—sit side-by-side in rapt attention of the material being taught in the spacious lecture halls. The common denominator among them, which bridges all gaps, is that they all share the same goal: the sincere quest for the acquisition of Torah knowledge through in-depth study in an atmosphere of professionalism and acceptance.
